Where is this ride taking me and do I really want to go there?

knitabrarians

Lauren has new pics up of our knitting group. I love that she calls us knitabrarians!!!

I've never lived in an area that had tornado warnings before. Today it was really wet and so windy.

In order to make up for Monday holidays this school has Monday classes on Tuesday. Unfortunately my Tuesday class professor has looked at the schedual and since there are no other music classes at that time we have to have Monday classes and Tuesday classes. That would be fine except he's giving us a big assingment due that day. Why, oh why?

wow, two in one week!

I can't believe that Sheet Music Service finally has a new website. It is fantastic! Of course they couldn't do that when I worked there. Oh well, I only hope the best for the guys at the store.

On Friday after we went to the Brickskeller Jess, Andy, Julie, Chris and I went to the Tastee Diner in Silver Springs. What a fun time, and it was really nice to do things with a different group of people.

I'm about read about half of the Grim Grotto, what a great book.

I went to church this morning, with Metro delays and bad directions it took about 4 hours from leaving here until I got back. It was nice to be out and about by myself. I really feel like I'm getting to know this area.

I'm sorry

I wish I was a better blogger but I am not. I am this way with journals. I do really well for a couple of weeks and then I get bored with it. I promise to do my best to write more frequently.

My hand problem is getting better. I decided to start J's scarf on straight needles instead of the circular and as long as I wear my brace it is very comfortable, so not all hope is lost on that front.

My school work is beginning to take more of my time but I still have plenty of free time. This afternoon Liz and I decided to do some exploring. Instead of going to Union Station, like normal, we went the opposite direction to Silver Springs. We had a fun time! Weactually found one of the other locations of the Tastee Diner. We went to the Bethesda location on one very drunken night. We also found a very new Whole Foods, Marshalls and most importantly a Ben & Jerry's.

D's friend Leah is here for the weekend and a bunch of us are going to the Brickskeller tonight. A couple of the Caldwell boys have insisted that they really want to go with us. But they have stood us up before and we are not holding our collective breath.

Mike called today to let me know that my order is cursed. I knewe this would happen. They mailed the PO to the publisher and it was returned in the mail. He tried to call with no luck. The Troll said he would order it from another source and get it to me as soon as possible. That is more than they would do for a normal customer so I should be happy.

I couldn't handel the wait anymore and I bought book the Eleventh last night. W, you are going to LOVE it. Once you finish chapter one you will understand why. If you haven't read it by the time you get here you will have to borrow it.

we are not all fun and games

I have been working on the knitting project pretty steadily. Unfortunately I must be clenching my needles a little to hard. I have some serious pain in my right wrist. After a trip to the health center this morning Big wrist brace and lots of pain meds, because there is lots of pain.

I also had to go the public library this morning to find a hymnal for Thursday. Dr. W is going to make us sing metrical psalms. I could be worse, the choir directors in the class have to learn on of the church modes and lead the rest of us in the singing.

At least I am getting a TV tonight. So I will be prepared for the Gilmore Girls season premire next Tuesday. I just wish that I could call Wog right aftewards like I did in the old days. But I am pretty sure I will be awake when she finishes watching and I will try to call then, if her brother isn't online.

estate sale of a very crafty lady

My discussion group for 551 met tonight. Lauren, Jennifer, Julie and I met at a lovely cafe and had some fab sangria. I also ate too many nachos. After we finished our ridiculous assingment we went to Starbucks where we drank coffee and worked on our various knitting projects, while trying to teach Julie how to knit.

Lauren has a wonderful blog all about her knitting projects. She will be posting pics of our study/knitting group at Starbucks.

what a time

Sometimes it is necessary to do really stupid things. This past Thursday the girls and I went out to a couple of bars and ended up at the hotel room of three guys from Boston. I know that the girls that were with me felt the same way. I guess it has something to do with the fact that we are in a new place and had WAY too much to drink and these guys were really into us. Plus the we didn't have enough money to take a cab back to campus and the metro had stopped running. I guess it was better than sleeping on the street but not by much.

on being a student

Why is it that the only time you are really motivated to study something big stops you. Like the library being closed for the holiday weekend? Three day weekends are something I have not experianced in a while. At SMS we always had Mondays off, so no holidays there. And Pacific didn't believe in holidays. I guess they figured that we were paying a lot of money to go there and they should give us our monies worth. Unfortunately these Catholics don't have the same philosophy. I pay a great deal more to attend this school than Pacific but there are a few three day weekends. This is nice to have time to relax with friends. But it seems to me that I only WANT to study when the resources that I need are not available.

Why didn't I get the New Harvard Dictionary of Music when I was at SMS?
