nothing much

Not much happening here, it did snow again this weekend. I like the snow.

I finally finishd my S & B bag, it turned out a lot bigger than I anticipated. So I felted it. Now it is wonderful.

whooping cough

I've now been sick since I got back to school. First it was bronchitis, then walking pneumonia, and now it is whooping cough. My voice is scratchy and I can't stop coughing and breathing is difficult. Why does this happen the semester I join jazz band?

I get frustrated being sick all the time. At least I'm getting lots of knitting done.

how much excitement can a girl handle?

Now that my temperature is back below 100 I have enough energy to post. I have been suffering from bronchitis/walking pneumonia for the past couple of days. I've only left my building twice since Tuesday afternoon. But, today I finally feel human again.

I'll start with the NYC trip. Liz and I left DC at 1 pm on Saturday and got there around 4:30. We went to Little Italy and had dessert then dinner, the tortellini alfredo was incredible! THen we went to Times Square and got some popcorn, we went to Soho but all the shops were closing when we got there. So we decided to head to the C-Note for the Skidmore Fountain show. We were at the intersection looking for the place and ran into Randy and Steve who showed us where to go. The show was really good, and the band after them wasn't so good but they had free food so it was ok. We had an adventurous trip to Topu's in the wonderful van Herbie. Topu's new apartment is so much nicer than his last. We had to catch our bus at 11 so we grabbed some food and got a little turned around and almost missed the bus, but we finally made it back to school.

Right when I returned from the break I had an interview at the Library & Information Science Library (LISL). And I was waiting to hear about that before I put myself down for hours at the yarn shop. I asked Julie about the LISL job, she works there, and she said it had been filled then I got sick and didn't go to the yarn store. Yesterday after my afternoon class had been cancelled due to snow Anne Marie called me and wants me to work at LISL!!!! It is so much better because I don't have to take Metro to get there, it pays better, and it is in my field. I am sad to leave the yarn store, but this will be better.

exciting things

I must give warning that this post deals with a feminine product that may make guys squeamish, so if don't blame me if it gets to be too much.

I can't say enough good things about a product that I bought myself for Christmas, and was finally able to try this past week. It is The Kepper. This amazing little cup replaces all of the pads, tampons, liners and other accoutrements normally used by women during “that time of the month.” It fits snuggly inside and after a couple of tries I couldn’t feel it at all. It does, however, require that the user be comfortable with their body and its fluids. The first few times that I had to empty it I did get a little messy but that doesn’t really bother me. It is supposed to last for 10 years. It makes me so happy knowing that I will no longer be contributing so much trash to landfills, and saving myself money. I recommend this very highly to anyone who would consider using it and I am happy to answer questions concerning its use.

Another product that I feel equally strong about is Crystal deodorant. I bought mine March of 2002 and I know it will last at least 2 more years. I even dropped it once and a big chunk broke off. I used that chunk for 3 months before it took too much effort to cover my whole armpit.

Enough shameless advertising. I will write again soon about the most recent trip to NYC and how classes are going.

another semester

I'm about 2/3 done with the first week of classes this semester. While I'm very excited about these classes they look like they involve a LOT more work than last semester. I'm most nervous about the 20-22 page paper for Dr. Gallo. I've never written more than 10 pages in my life.

I'm also nervous about jazz band tonight, I'm not sure why. Actually that's not true I do know why. I haven't played in a band for 4 1/2 years, I'm not really a lead player, I only know one of the people in there, I have no idea what we are playing, I'm afraid that I'm not good enough. There are several more little things that also worry me but those are the big ones. I will upsate after class to decide if I was right to be worried or if everything is ok.

back again

I made it back to school, finally. After plane delays because of snow in Las Vegas and an airline change I got here and my luggage did too!

I just spent $250 for 4 books, what a scam the bookstores run.

I'm just excited to start classes get back to work and maybe pick up a new job at one of the libraries on campus.
