scatterbrained

Where is this ride taking me and do I really want to go there?

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone has a peacefu and joyous day. I have fun stories to share later.

some details for you

Details:

Those flowers are from Paul. We started talking on the phone about 2 weeks ago and had fantastic hour’s long conversations. We made arrangements to meet and had dinner and talked much of the night. The next day was our trip to the botanic gardens and union station. That was Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday evening he returned and we watched volume 1 of Horatio Hornblower. (I really recommend this series!) We spent Friday, parts of Saturday and Sunday together, on Saturday he accompanied me to Tim and Lindsay’s Christmas party. This morning, Monday, he was ever so kind to drive me and my loads of junk to the Airport.

Paul is really special and I’m so happy that we met. There is an amazing connection between us. It’s really hard to have to leave the area for two and a half weeks when I have a great guy here waiting for me. He volunteered to visit me in Oregon but I don’t think my family is ready to meet him. I think by Easter break they could handle it.

I will be adding more details about all of this as I have time. Maybe one of these I will even get a picture of him or us together and share.

flower power

I think it's a good sign when you get a bunch of gorgeous flowers on the first date. I know that I like it. We also had a really nice trip to the Botanic Gardens and Union Station. This feels different from anything before and that is a good thing.

The bad weather predicted today was not enough to close the school and my final will proceed as planned. I'm not really worried about it, it's open notes, open books, open WebCT. I just don't want to walk across campus in the cold. I'm much more worried about my final tomorrow. I guess I should study for that today along with trying to get my room clean before I go home. I'm really hoping to get this clean, so when I get back I can just relax and enjoy a couple of days before classes start again.

getting closer

My one big paper for the semester is finally over. I think it turned out pretty well but it did get me thinking about future research topics.

The best part is I can start knitting again. I'm working on a scarf for myself and one for Tim so he will stop bothering me.

Baby, it's cold outside!

The winters on this coast tend to be more drastic than those on the west coast. So I've had to increase my collection of cold weather items. This hat looks good and keeps me very warm. I looked at a lot of patterns and ended up combining a few to get what I wanted. I used Debbie Bliss Merino DK in black that I had lying around. If you are interested in the pattern let me know, I’m happy to share.

I have a similar scarf started but paper writing is limiting my knitting time until next week. After this monster is finished I only have 3 finals and a skills test and don’t require too much study so I should be able to get a scarf or two done before I go home for Christmas.

My delightful youngest sister told me that she got a snowboard as an early Christmas present and from things she mentioned I might have skis in my future!! That would be really exciting. I’m not very good and only go once a year for the Annual trip with my sisters and Natalie’s friend Tiffany, but I really enjoy being on the mountain.
