scatterbrained

Where is this ride taking me and do I really want to go there?

break time

I can only concentrate for short periods of time so I'm thinking positively and decided to apply for three jobs today. Wish me luck!

knitting soon

I promise to have some knitting updates soon. Unfortunately life gets in the way sometimes.

I have Comps Friday and Saturday. I feel pretty good about answering the questions but I'm a little unsure about how well I will be able to site the professional literature that seems to be required.

Also last night, I was heading down to Quizno's to pick up a sandwich and was in a car accident. I think my car is totalled but I'm not sure yet. The worst part is that I have the most basic insurance coverage and that means no help to repair or replace my car. So for the time being I'm all about public transportation. I don't mind it. In Portland I went for 2 1/2 years without a car and I know I can survive without until I get a job and can afford a new car. Plus Paul has his Forester and I think I can bribe him to take me to the store everyonce in a while.

By the way, no one was hurt and the others person's car was a little smashed but still drive-able.

It’s so exciting!

When I was in Memphis for the MLA meeting Paul and I had some time apart to think about our relationship and where it is going. All of this thinking led to him asking me to marry him. I accepted. So I'm getting married! Really soon. We really don’t see any reason to have a long engagement or big wedding. We plan on getting married at the courthouse in Annapolis in May after this semester is over and having a reception/party both here and in Oregon afterwards to celebrate.

I know we haven’t know each other for very long but I can’t explain how right this feels.

*After some thinking we are pushing things back a bit to have plenty of time to plan everything, stay tuned for more info*

yikes, stripes!

While in Memphis I stayed at the beautiful Peabody Hotel with the ducks in the fountain

I started my second pair of socks there and by the time I left I had finished one. This is half of the first sock. I'm using Sockotta that I got for Christmas from my mom, I was really surprised by the stripe pattern. I'm working these on size 3 DPNs using the Twisted Rib Crazy Socks pattern from the Knitting pattern-a-day calendar.
