is that a sock I see?
I believe it is! Yes, I have one completed sock. Here is another view. I used Sock Bug's River Rapids Socks pattern and Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Pond Blue, on size 2 DPN's instead of the 2 circulars indicated in the pattern. I started the second this morning.
I also finished the poncho that I decided to keep for myself and I'll figure something else for my aunt. I appologize for the messy room, I just survived a very long 4 day Musicology conference.
I also found that my short-lived dream of graduated in May was not possible. I will finish over the summer and I guess that is ok. I have a very exciting class possibility for spring but I don't want to share until I know for sure, so stay tuned for more info.

I promise a nice long, hopefully interesting post soon. I might even have the first sock done.
Unfortunately this semester is killing me and I'm having a terrible time getting spring to work out the way I was hoping it would. But I like being in debt, right?
Anyway, I finished the poncho and turned heel on the sock, if all goes well, I can finish while I'm listening to papers at the AMS conference.
So I promise, more as soon as I can.

trials and tribulations
Despite having a broken DPN and being sick last week I'm still plodding ahead on the sock. It's going slowly but turinng out quite well, I really like the pattern. I will have a pic later, Thursday is my LONG day, but one of my 4 classes today was cancelled so that should be some good sock time.

Socktoberfest=fun!
When Lolly announced her Socktoberfest I knew that it was time to take the plunge. About 2 weeks before I signed up I had picked up the yarn for my first socks but was waiting to start. They are going to take a while, school is really draining this semester. So here is the beginning of the first sock,
I'm using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Pond Blue and I'm using Sock Bug's River Rapids pattern. I really like this yarn, it's soft and this color is so pretty.

I did it
Not only did I cast on my first ever sock today, I also made a needle case using the pattern from SNB.
I've been keeping all of my needles in a shoe box under my bed, as I was tearing up my room tring to find the needles for the socks I broke the shoe box and needed something new. I've been meaning to make the case for a while but the opportunity never presented itself.
Today while I should have been working on my big presentation for Tuesday I brought my sewing machine out of the storage room. I know, how many people who live in dorms have sewing machines? Not many I guess, but I like to be different.

I have been remiss
I must appologize for my lack of posts. This semester is very intense and it is a struggle to keep up with everything. Due to that my knitting time is limited and I'm not doing as much as I would like. I'm slowly working on a few Christmas presents. SO here are a few FO's and a WIP.
These are the Hurry Up Spring armwarmers from SNB Nation and a cabled headband I figured out on my own. This is my first try at cabeling and I think I like it. I used Noro Kuryon for this project.
This is a little drop stitch scarf using Silky Wool. Tim bought this yarn and tried to crochet but had some difficulty so I came up with this.
This is the Knit Pretty Poncho using Homespun. I think I will leave the hood off. This is quite easy and moving quickly.
